How CookAids Works

By CookAids Editorial Desk

CookAids works in the browser. You open a calculator, type the amount you already have — cups, grams, servings, weight, or a temperature — and the page returns the converted figure. You do not install an app and you do not create an account to run a tool.

Open a calculator and enter what you have

Start at cookaids.com/tools. Each card opens one job: convert a measurement, scale servings, estimate a cook time, swap an ingredient, convert an oven temperature, and so on.

The measurement converter asks for an ingredient, a starting unit, a target unit, and an amount. It converts through grams using that ingredient’s cup weight. Example: 1 cup of all-purpose flour is 120 g in the tool; 1 cup of granulated sugar is 200 g.

The recipe scaler asks for original servings, desired servings, and each ingredient amount. The scale factor is desired ÷ original. A recipe written for 4 servings, scaled to 8, uses a factor of 2, so 2 cups of flour become 4 cups. Amounts that are not whole numbers are rounded to two decimal places.

Time and temperature tools

The cooking-time calculator estimates roasting and baking times by weight for beef, chicken, pork, lamb, and other cuts. A published CookAids example: bake a chicken breast at 375°F (190°C) for about 20–30 minutes depending on thickness, until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C). For a 6 oz breast, plan on about 25 minutes, then confirm with a thermometer.

The oven converter turns Fahrenheit into Celsius with the standard formula, rounded to a whole degree: °C = (°F − 32) × 5/9, and the reverse. 180°C is 356°F. The same page includes a Gas Mark reference (Gas Mark 4 is listed as 350°F / 175°C) and a fan-oven note that sits about 20°C below the conventional Celsius figure, rounded to the nearest 5 degrees.

What the tools do not decide for you

The recipe scaler multiplies every amount you type by the same factor. It does not quietly reduce salt, baking soda, or time. Those exceptions are written up in the Recipe Scaling Tables PDF, not applied automatically.

Timers and charts are estimates. The Mid-Cook Timer Guide states the rule the calculators follow as well: clocks estimate, and a thermometer decides. If a result looks off for your pan, altitude, or oven, trust the internal temperature over the clock.

Common questions

How does CookAids work?

Open a free calculator on cookaids.com/tools, enter the measurement, servings, weight, or temperature you have, and read the result in the browser. No account is required.

How does the CookAids recipe scaler calculate a new amount?

It divides desired servings by original servings and multiplies each ingredient amount by that factor. Scaling 4 servings to 8 uses a factor of 2.

Does CookAids convert 180°C to Fahrenheit?

Yes. The oven converter uses the standard formula and shows 180°C as 356°F. Its Gas Mark chart lists Gas Mark 4 as 350°F / 175°C.
