1. Who we are
CookAids is a free kitchen toolkit: measurement converters, recipe scalers, cooking-time calculators, and practical cooking guides. This policy explains how we collect, use, share, and protect information when you visit cookaids.com or use our tools, newsletter, shop, or community features.

2. Information we collect
- Information you provide: name, email address, and message content when you subscribe, sign in with a magic link, contact us, leave a comment, or complete a purchase.
- Usage data: pages viewed, referring URLs, approximate location derived from IP address, and how you use calculators and guides.
- Device data: browser type, operating system, and similar technical information.
- Transaction data: if you buy a digital guide, our payment processor (Stripe) handles card details. We receive confirmation of the purchase, email, and fulfillment status — not your full card number.
- Chat messages: if you use the optional on-site cooking assistant, your messages are processed to generate a reply and may be retained for quality and product improvement.
3. How we use information
- Operate and improve the kitchen tools, guides, and site performance
- Send requested emails (magic-link sign-in, newsletter, purchase receipts) and respond to support requests
- Understand which guides and tools are useful (analytics)
- Show advertising on article and other content pages (see Cookies and Google AdSense below)
- Detect abuse, secure the site, and meet legal obligations
4. Cookies and similar technologies
Cookies are small text files stored on your device. CookAids uses:
- Strictly necessary cookies: sign-in session, security, and remembering your cookie preference. These are required for the site to work.
- Analytics cookies: help us see which tools and guides people use. Set only after you accept analytics in the cookie banner, where that banner is shown.
- Advertising cookies (Google AdSense): used on blog posts, guides, and other content pages to serve and measure ads. Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this site or other sites. Google’s use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads based on your visits to this and/or other sites on the Internet.
- Preference cookies: remember display or consent choices.
You can accept, reject, or customize non-essential cookies in the site banner (after you start scrolling) or through your browser settings. Blocking some cookies may limit sign-in or saved preferences.

5. Google AdSense
CookAids uses Google AdSense to display advertising on blog posts, cooking guides, and other content pages. We do not place AdSense units on the tools-first homepage or on this privacy page. Ads are labeled “Advertisement” and appear after page content has started, not as the first thing you see.
Google, as a third-party vendor, uses cookies to serve ads. You may opt out of personalized advertising through Google Ads Settings. We do not sell your email address or chat transcripts to advertisers.
6. Analytics and other processors
We may use analytics (including Google Analytics / Tag Manager and first-party analytics) to understand traffic. Payment processing is handled by Stripe. Email delivery may use Resend and/or MailerLite. Each processor applies its own privacy policy to the data it receives.
7. Affiliate links (Amazon Associates)
CookAids participates in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program. As an Amazon Associate we earn from qualifying purchases. Our Amazon affiliate tag is seperts-20. Affiliate links do not change the price you pay. Editorial recommendations are independent of commissions.
8. Legal bases (GDPR / UK GDPR)
If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, we process personal data on these bases: your consent (newsletter, non-essential cookies, chat); contract (accounts, purchases, requested emails); legitimate interests (securing and improving a free toolkit); and legal obligation.
9. Your rights
Subject to applicable law, you may request access, correction, deletion, restriction, portability, or object to certain processing. To exercise these rights, email privacy@cookaids.com. You may also lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
10. Data retention and security
We keep account, comment, and purchase records only as long as needed to provide the service, meet accounting or legal duties, or resolve disputes. We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect data. No internet transmission is completely secure.
11. Children’s privacy
CookAids is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided information, contact privacy@cookaids.com and we will delete it.
12. Optional AI cooking assistant
The on-site assistant is optional. Messages you send are processed to generate a reply and may be retained for quality and product improvement. Transcripts are not sold. You may ask us to delete chat data by emailing support@cookaids.com. A consent notice appears before the first chat.
13. Changes
We may update this policy. The effective date at the top will change when we do. Continued use of CookAids after an update means you accept the revised policy.
